Hey aledoforum, I have a question about how the site assigns avatars and 'Forum Master' to posts.

When I was just a n00b here, I had no forum rank or avatar. But, when I search my previous posts, I see my present rank and my present goofy avatar on my old posts. Why is that? I didn't have those when I made those posts.

Please understand that this isn't an indictment of how things are here. This is how it works in all the forums that I visit. I just felt more comfortable asking here.

Thanks.

Tolerance implies no lack of commitment to one's own beliefs.
Rather it condemns the oppression or persecution of others.

Your rank and avatar shows up on all postings under your user. Once you change the avatar on your account it will change for all your current postings and etc.

Yes, of course. But, I asked 'why' because I think, from a historical perspective, it would be interesting to see how posts looked when they were put up. I know the date and even the time is on every post but, that really doesn't 'bring it home'. I was thinking about giving my avatar a purple Mohawk or an eye patch but would like to see him like he is on my older posts.

I know it's just how the forum software works so I won't keep bugging you about it. I was more curious (and bored) than anything else.

Thanks!
